Ho Ho Ho the Undead are rising
@ 11/11/2009 – 19:34:59
Hi Folks,
So things are picking up a little after the Space Hulk last weekend. We are looking at the introduction of Blood Bowl to our gaming routine, so we've been drafting our teams. I've decided to go with the Necromancer undead, but I wasn't keen on a lot of the GW official minis, so I'm making my own zombies, werewolf (kindly supplied by a friend, and it's an awesome model), and ghouls. You can see the progress on this below....
I'm also working on an extra special Christmassy treat. It looks like Santa is going to be bringing gifts to the Imperial Guard this year. Perhaps they will get some new flashlights?

Some stuff
@ 01/11/2009 – 09:44:38
Hey folks,
So it's been a while since I posted, things have been a bit busy. That doesn't mean nothing has been happening though

Yesterday we got to revisit some space hulk, it's still classic but really hard as the marines! Genestealers won both games. The new set is fantastically well done, both the models and the floor tiles are really high quality.
I finally finished painting my commissar and here he is...
I've also got some Imperial Guard advisors for my upcoming birthday, however the officer of the fleet has a miscast leg, so I got them early to see if I could fix it. The new ones are on the way soon hopefully, but I've used him for a hopefully cool conversion. At the moment he has still got his gammy leg, but this will be replaced with either a peg or a bionic foot. He has his pirate hat though...
As usual questions or comments are welcome.

Kitbashed Mega Armoured Ork
@ 07/10/2009 – 18:53:06
Just a quick post here, not too much to say other than to show how well Starship Trooper exosuits can be modified to make an imposing looking mega armoured nob/warboss.
The torso piece was rotated on 2 axis to make the back the new waist. This keeps with the hunched over look the orks have, which is lost if they're put in a regular upright suit of armour.
Original paint job. I felt it relied too much on metallics, so I came back to it a couple of weeks later to add a splash of yellow (Since Bad moons traditionally sit in mega armour, I felt this was appropriate)

Finished product. He stands taller than most Mega armoured nobs, so might be used as a warboss in some games instead. Time, and games, will tell. -
The Lance Tip Takes Shape
@ 03/10/2009 – 11:05:29
Following on from Drop Capt Akaris i've been working on his elite Lance Tip squad, which are Vanguard Vets in game terms.
I decided i wanted to put together a few power weapon guys to jump around the board with him and i like the idea of the Lance tip being a bit like the elite airbourne of WW2 so wanted to paint them a little chipped and dirty but proud. Really wanted to use these guys as a command squad but the new marine dex ended that so here we are.
Starting to take shape....

@ 25/09/2009 – 19:03:26
Another case of me falling for mini then finding a way to make it fit my fluff, lol.
Fluff below
Jump Captain Akaris
Commander of the lance tip.
Jump Captain Akaris is the company Captain of the Wraith Wolves 2nd company. The second are a dedicated assault company consisting of jump pack equipped and drop pod deployed marines. The Lance tip are an elite formation of vanguard veterans within the 2nd personally led by Capt Akaris. The lance tip are tasked with the hardest missions the chapter are given and operate outside the normal chain command reporting only to Captain Akaris. Often the Lance tip are deployed on planetstrike operations seizing important objectives and helping to establish landing zones. The runes on their armour translates to low gothic as “First In, Last Out”.
Tales of Captain Akaris’s courage are numerous but the most commonly shared is that of his armour and claws. When Akaris was a Sergeant in the lance tip his squad were dispatched in support of their brother chapter the Space Wolves on the jungle world of Kendt 4. Whilst on campaign with the senior chapter it is tradition for the Wraith Wolves to provide an honour guard of veterans for the senior commander on the ground. This tradition goes back to the chapters founding by the Space Wolves before Terra became involved and the codex organization forced on them. Kendt 4 was the crash site of a medium sized imperial freighter long thought lost to the warp. Local PDF forces secured the crash site but soon reports surfaced that the guard were taking casualties around the crash site in the jungle. Contact with the world was lost and an investigation was launched. When the combined Wolves task force arrived on station they found the jungle world teeming with new and terrifying lifeforms. Genestealers had landed aboard the hulk and infestation had set in. The Space Wolves decided to take back the star port and attempt to evacuate the near by settlement of any survivors. The honour guard inserted with Wolf lord Klexi and secured the star port. The tyranid counter attack was swift and sudden in the shattered remnants of the star port 3 lictors burst from ducts and paneling leading on a tide of genestalers. The vile aliens swept through the main terminal building as a murderous tide. In the ensuing action the members of the honour guard laid down their lives to protect the wolf lord and as last Aliens fell only Akaris and the Lord stood in the terminal building. As the relief forces retook the terminal Akarais’ superhuman physiology shut down his body and attempted to save him from the many wounds rent from claw and talon. When he came too back on board the strike cruiser he did so as a hero. Inducted into the order of the claw by Wolf Lord Klexi and gifted both his armour and master crafted lightening claws. Upon his return to chapter he was promoted to Captain and given charge of the 2nd company replacing Captain Gosgow who was turn made a master and member of the council of the grey.

Space Marines Venerable Dred "Old Iron Fang"
@ 12/09/2009 – 12:43:20
Always loved this model and finally got round to painting it. I know it's technically a FW Chaplin Dred but i think it looks so much better than the normal Venerable Dreds. Fluff is included briefly below.
Iron Fang Venerable Dreadnought of the Wraith Wolves
Iron Fang is the Wraith Wolves most ancient Dreadnought and indeed one of the very first hero’s of the chapter to be interned into dreadnought armour. It is recorded that Iron Fang was at the first meeting of the Space Wolves and the natives of Vassen 6 that led to the chapter’s formation. The wisdom and fighting spirit of this fearsome chapter master lives on to spear head the 1st Company and support the terminators or the elite Wraith Guard. Iron Fang fell in battle on Ceran 9 leading his command squad in combat with a fearsome Hive Tyrant after landing a fatal blow to the Xenos it lashed out in it’s final death throws and grievously wounded the Master. As the Tyranid assault was thrown into disarray the wounded Iron Fang was rushed to the Chapter’s Iron Priest for internment. In the 2000 years since Iron Fang has won countless honours and victories and remains a revered icon of the Wraith Wolves Chapter.

Valkyrie Work In Progress
@ 09/08/2009 – 19:32:39
Hi Everyone,
I thought I would post some pictures of my Valkyrie. The paint job is a work in progress but it features something a bit special. When they found out I was getting one a fellow gamer made a request that something should feature on it. They know who they are, and what they requested, and I'm hoping they appreciate the effort I've gone to in order to fulfill the request!
I have another special paint job request for the wings, but that bit hasn't been done yet. Anyway, here are the pics, contructive criticism is welcome, anything else will be met with a lascannon or multiple rocket blast...

Converting Ogryns
@ 27/07/2009 – 20:06:39
Hi Folks,
So call me a cheapskate, but nearly £10 a model for the official Ogryn models is just too much. Yes they are metal, but surely we've reached a point where they could be plastic? Anyway I decided to make my own.
Back in November I bought the Assault on Black Reach box set for the marine stuff to bolster my army, but this also came with a load of Ork models as well. I thought I might cash in on Ebay, but it seems everyone else had this idea as well so I never bothered. This has come in handy as I've used the Ork Nobz in the box set and the warboss to make my own Ogryn models with the help of some green stuff and my bitz box, as well as some Ogre heads, strangely also from Bitz Box, just not my own. This is my first outting with modelling putty for the hobby, so the results aren't great. The Ogryns themselves are also slightly stunted compared to the metal models. In my head there would be some fluff to cover this oddness, but if I'm honest, I'm lazy as well as a cheapskate.
Anyway, I've included the first three here, as they are a usable squad. I like my Bone 'Ead with his bionic chainsaw arm.
I've also started work on assembling/painting my Valkyrie, but this will be a very slow project as I need to paint it in pieces!
